Visa to the Republic of Congo

All travelers to the Republic of Congo must obtain a visa and yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days prior to arrival. Unlike previous arrangements, visas can no longer be granted upon arrival.

You will need the following documents to process your visa:

Passport valid for more than six months
Two passport photos
Multiple copies of either the invitation letter, if the sponsor is covering the stay in Congo, or hotel reservations
Photocopies of travel itineraries or airline tickets
Proof of legal residence
Yellow fever vaccination must be verified by a certificate issued by the World Health Organization
Completed application in two copies
Prepaid envelope with tracking number for returning stamped passport
Applicable processing fees, which vary depending on the country of residence

Some embassies allow you to apply for a visa electronically. Check this option on the official website.

Visa approval takes 7 to 10 business days

It is therefore recommended that applications be submitted well in advance of the date of arrival.

Types of visas

Tourist visas

For tourism-oriented visits. They are valid for 90 days and allow multiple trips in and out of the country during this period.

Business visas

For business trips, business negotiations or investment activities. Valid for 30 days. Additional documentation verified by local authorities on the purpose of the visit to the Republic of Congo must be presented.

Transit visas

If you are just passing through Congo on your way to another country.

Study or work visas

For a longer stay related to study or work.

Diplomatic/official

They are granted for 12 months to holders of diplomatic passports or those travelling on official business and are exempt from all visa fees.
